Philosophy

We are built off of many great foundations and philosophies at Atlantis Community. Within the Y/A program two of our main philosophies are participation and agency. We are here to help you along the way to your goals, but part of the program is about learning how to do these things on your own. We help you, we do not do things for you. We also expect every participant to want to be there! This is your life and your goals. We will never make you do anything. It is your choice what to do with your journey to your independence.

What does independence look like?

Independence looks different for everyone. Some people are ready to start learning skills for moving out. We offer the ability to sign up for vouchers, learn how to look for roommates, and start to understand what it will really look like to be on their own. Some people might want to make friends and start to feel comfortable when they are not with their parents in public. Some people want to learn how to ride the RTD by themselves. Others may just want to learn more about their own medical history and how to communicate with doctors. The Y/A program is here to support people at any part of their journey! It is just important that they want to do it!

Parents & Support Section

We love that you love your child! We love that you are here to support them on their journey! We are happy to have parents or supporters participate with the first portion of the intake process. Beyond this point we will be meeting and communicating with the consumer directly and on their own. We aim to foster an environment where people are able to learn and grow in their own space at their own speed!

If your child is interested in this program or either of you have questions please feel free to reach out. It is preferred that the consumer reaches out directly, but we understand that this is not always possible. Thank you for supporting your young adult!
